AFL AMBASSADORS

Lend a hand to Hugo work closely with a small group of elite AFL players at the top of their game in order to assert three key messages:

  • The importance of acceptance and inclusion

  • That everyone is different, and being different is okay

  • To enable, not label people with disabilities - or as we like to say, people with different abilities

These selfless role models wear Lend a hand to Hugo shoe laces in their boots in each and every game they play in the AFL to bring light and awareness to Autism and other different abilities. Do you want to wear our shoe laces too? Contact us.

BEN BROWN

North Melbourne Football Club

"A lot of the time people define people with autism by that disorder, however I have celiac disease, but I don't let that define me. Everyone has a different personality, and some of the best personalities you'll find are people with autism."

MITCHELL HIBBERD

North Melbourne Football Club

"I'm a Lend a hand to Hugo ambassador because I'm extremely passionate about the cause, and strongly believe that together we can break the stigma surrounding autism. I believe in equal opportunity for everyone."

GRANT BIRHCALL

Hawthorn Football Club

"It's really nice to give back and help raise awareness about a disorder which is severely misunderstood and affects one in every one hundred people."

JORDAN ROUGHEAD

Western Bulldgos Football Club

"From my point of view, just because people are different, it doesn't mean they are any less equal."

MACKENZIE WILLIS

Gold Coast Suns

"Through the extensive work my football club does in the community, I have gained a greater appreciation and understanding of the challenges presented by autism. Everyone is different and it is important to accept, include and celebrate people with different abilities."
