LEND A HAND TO HUGO WORKSHOP

Lend a hand to Hugo are taking expressions of interest from schools groups (Grades 6-12), University groups, sporting teams & clubs, workplaces, & other social groups for our workshop program.

The Lend a hand to Hugo workshop is delivered by Hobart teenager, and Director of Lend a hand to Hugo, Luke Williams. The workshop:

  • Shares the story of a teenager who saw a need, and did something about it

  • Educates on the key values and messages of Lend a hand to Hugo

  • Brings attention to a topic often left unspoken about

  • Highlights unnecessary stigmas

  • Recognises that derogatory language has a negative impact on the mental wellbeing of many individuals

This program benefits the audience through increasing their awareness of autism and other disabilities, helping them to become more accepting. Through providing guidance, Lend a hand to Hugo helps individuals to improve resilience, creating environments where individuals are happy and inclusive.

Feedback:

"I would highly recommend the Lend a hand to Hugo workshop. It is a program that explores a difficult topic, but a topic that must be educated about. Too often, we see the general population dehumanise disabled people, not because they are mean, but because they simply had never been educated on this topic. If this workshop is to continue, more understanding will occur, and in society, we will be more inclusive."
