BENEFICIARIES 

Lend a hand to Hugo's beneficiary program aims to inject funds back into families who are struggling to fund adequate therapy and learning resources. Through bridging the gaps in funding, the charity has assisted families in funding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Therapy, and in partnership with The Therapy Store, has funded Therapy Packs and other learning resources for several families. Since 2014, the charity has contributed $22,256.13 to the support of all families listed below. 

HUGO BARRETT

Eight years old

Hugo Barrett, 8, was the inspiration behind Lend a hand to Hugo. 

 

Hugo's parents were advised that he must undergo twenty hours Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy per week if he were to develop through the program. However, as ABA therapy can be quite costly, Hugo was only able to receive 10 hours per week. In order to make a change in this area, Luke Williams founded Lend a hand to Hugo to raise Hugo's therapy hours. 

 

Although Hugo currently has not reached 20 hours of therapy per week, the charity has financially aided him with the funding of clinic meetings and helped Hugo to have additional one on one time with Clinical ABA Psychologist Cassie Le Fevre. 

HARVEY BEVIS

Eight years old

Harvey Bevis, 8, is severe on the Autism Spectrum. Harvey was the first additional child Lend a hand to Hugo was able to assist. Through a learning tool on his iPad, Harvey is able to communicate with his family members and close friends.

Since 2014, Lend a hand to Hugo have been proud to provide support to Harvey via funding:

​

  • 'Hugging Swing' valued at $300 - to assist with deep pressure therapy and self regulation 

  • 'Osmo' valued at $180 - to assist with Harvey's speech and communication, and in forming abstract concepts. 

  • Learning Resource Pack valued at $500 - To assist Harvey with his deep pressure, communication and fine motor skills. 

LACHLAN YOUNG

7 years old

Lend a hand to Hugo are proud to have assisted Lachlan Young through the funding of a $190 therapy session. This session enabled Lachlan to further develop his speech and motor skills, but also gave his Mother guidance in helping Lachlan to develop both through his social skills and speech. 

GEORGE LENNON

5 years old

George Lennon was born with a heart defect, and had a major cardiac condition when he was born. Whilst his parents thought this condition was the influence behind George's slow development, at the age of three, George was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. George's main struggles come through sensory issues such as loud noises in large environments such as supermarkets and in the city. Whilst George's speech has developed immensely, he struggles through the pronunciation of words and forming sentences. Lend a hand to Hugo are proud to have assisted George and his sister Alice by funding:
 

  • 'Pea Pod' valued at $300 - to assist with deep pressure therapy and self regulation. 

ALICE LENNON

9 years old

Alice Lennon was diagnosed with the Autism Spectrum Disorder just before she entered kindergarten at the age of 4. Alice is classified as high functioning on the Autism Spectrum, however her main struggles come socially. Lend a hand to Hugo financially aided Alice and her Brother George through the funding of: 
 

  • 'Pea Pod' valued at $310 to assist with deep pressure therapy and self regulation.

SAM EYLES

8 years old

Meet Sam Eyles, 8, who was diagnosed with the Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 4. Lend a hand to Hugo have financially aided Sam through the funding of:
 

  • 'Reading Doctor' valued at $110 - a spelling and reading app, helping children to develop their spelling and communication. 

  • A weighted blanket valued at $298.95 - to assist Sam with deep pressure therapy. 

WILLOW MCSHANE

7 years old

Meet Willow McShane and her Mother Sally. Willow has not only been diagnosed with Autism, but also suffers from Turner Syndrome, Grey Matter Heterotopia, suffers from Seizures, and is also missing part of her Immune System. Lend a hand to Hugo financially aided Willow through the funding of:
 

  • 'Pea Pod' valued at $314 - to assist with deep pressure therapy and self regulation. 

NIC XINTAVELONIS

13 years old

Nic Xintavelonis and his twin brother are both thirteen years old. Nic was diagnosed with the Autism Spectrum Disorder just before he reached the age of two years old, and is completely non-verbal meaning that he hasn't spoken a word. Lend a hand to Hugo have financially aided Nic through the funding of: 
 

  • 'Pea Pod' valued at $310 - to assist with deep pressure therapy and self regulation. 

KADEL LEONARD

7 years old

In 2017 Lend a hand to Hugo are proud to have funded an occupational therapy session ($180 per hour) for Kadel Leonard to further develop and grow his social and motor developmental skills. 

XAVIER & ETHAN COURTO

7 & 9

We recently funded a session of therapy ($190) for the Courto family which provided them with guidance and some further strategies to cope in situations. We also gifted the family with an iPad to further develop the boys' communication skills. Bridging these gaps in funding for families ensures that we help children affected by autism develop both socially and in improving their life skills.

LOGAN WICKHAM

6 years old

Logan Wickham, 6, is severe on the Autism Spectrum. As part of our Christmas Therapy Pack program, Lend a hand to Hugo provided Logan with the joy of Christmas through the funding of therapy tools and learning resources, valued at $180. 

DARCY CORDWELL

Fourteen Years Old

Darcy Cordwell was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay at the age of 2, Autism at the age of 3, and ADHD at the age of 7. Social environments, communications and sensory overload can be difficult for Darcy to handle, however, he enjoys sports and laughing, and was part of Lend a hand to Hugo's inaugural All Abilities MILO in2CRICKET program.

In December of 2017, Darcy was a beneficiary of Lend a hand to Hugo's Christmas Drive ($180 therapy packP); working to alleviate mental and financial strains for families over the Christmas period. 

NOAH HALL

Five years old

Noah Hall, 5, is moderate on the Autism Spectrum. 

​

As part of our 2017 Christmas drive, Lend a hand to Hugo bridge the gap in funding for Noah's family and gifted him with an iPad. In conjunction with Noah's family, Lend a hand to Hugo decided that the funding of an iPad would be most beneficial for Noah, especially with communication as he begins his life at school.
