THE CRICKET PROJECT

The Cricket Project was Lend a hand to Hugo's initial ambassador program initiated by Lend a hand to Hugo Founder Luke Williams. The Cricket Project enables our first class and international cricket ambassadors to wear the Lend a hand to Hugo ribbon sticker on their cricket bats to assert three keys messages:

  • The importance of acceptance and inclusion

  • That everyone is different, and being different is okay

  • To enable, not label people with disabilities - or as we like to say, people with different abilities

Lend a hand to Hugo's passionate ambassadors below all have personal stories and strong connections and links to autism and other different abilities, therefore we are working together in order to educate on the differences in society and to raise funds to allow families to have the best possible access to various therapies and learning resources.

SOPHIE MOLINEUX

Australian Cricket Team

"I want to create a bit of a positive mindset for people when they think about disability. If they can understand more about disability, and Autism in general, we should be able to improve the language people use."

GEORGIA REDMAYNE

"I was inspired to be a Lend a Hand to Hugo ambassador through my time spent at paediatric medical clinics as a university student. This exposed me to many children and families affected by autism and other disabilities and highlighted their real potential to contribute to society if given the proper support which Lend a Hand to Hugo advocates for."

EMMA MANIX-GEEVES

"My best friend has a little brother with autism, so that's where my interest spans from. But I know many more people who have autism and other disabilities too, so I want to make a positive difference in their lives."

SAM HARPER

"Since becoming an ambassador for the fantastic charity 'Lend a hand to Hugo,' I believe that all people, irrelevant of their condition or upbringing deserve to be treated equally and accomplish their goals and ambitions."

MATTHEW SHORT

"I'm a Lend a hand to Hugo ambassador because I want to help spread awareness that people with autism are just as valuable as those who aren't affected by the disorder."

GUY WALKER

"Since becoming an ambassador for Lend a hand to Hugo, I found that someone closer to me has severe autism. At the start I was in shock because that person can't verbally communicate. The last six months I've been around that person I've started to understand the way that they act, and found that they can communicate in other ways."

MITCHELL PERRY

"Since becoming a ambassador for lend a hand to Hugo I strongly believe that people with autism can offer so much to the world and I really hope that everyone can understand that people with autism or other disabilities are no different to everyone else."

SAM GRIMWADE

Luke and I have spoken about situations at school and in sport where greater awareness of autism could have resulted in a better environment for all involved. So, my goal is to up my knowledge under Luke's wing and play a small hand in his big difference."
