Travelling can be stressful for any family, let alone for the family of someone on the Autism Spectrum.

Hotel Port Aux Basques in Canada are doing their part to assist in the alleviation of that stress. The Hotel has introduced a room where those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can enjoy their travels in a relaxed environment. A lounge with a calming mural, a swing, a climbing wall and a sensory boat all help to create a comfortable and calming environment for children with ASD. The Hotel have also developed a kids menu with pictures of the food options. This is to assist children who may have trouble speaking, and provides an opportunity to be independent. The Hotel has also worked with all of their staff members to have a better understanding of the Autism Spectrum. From Lend a hand to Hugo's point of view, this reinforces our message to think before you jump to conclusions. Lend a hand to Hugo send our congratulations to Hotel Port Aux Basques for their amazing initiative and leadership.
