Following the recent success of Lend a hand to Hugo’s All Abilities in2CRICKET Program, the charity is excited to launch our inaugural, fully inclusive AFL Auskick All Abilities program.
In partnership with New Horizons and AFL Tasmania, the 6-week program will officially commence on Sunday 22nd July at Cornelian Bay Oval from 10:30am.
Lend a hand to Hugo Founder Luke Williams is excited about the implementation of a fully inclusive AFL Auskick program.
“We’ve set a strong foundation in being fully inclusive as an AAA sports provider, and with the wide range of needs from the participants, we’ll be doing everything to ensure that the program is accessible.”
“Whether a participant has an intellectual or physical disability, vision impairment, sensory overload, is deaf or hard of hearing or has any other accessibility challenge, we’re encouraging children of all abilities to register for the 6-week program.”

In an additional incentive, the charity has welcomed a new member to the team, with Taylah Purton being appointed as ‘All Abilities Programs Coordinator’ for the next year. A passionate sportsperson herself, Purton was prolific in the coordination of last seasons All Abilities in2CRICKET program and is also a key member of Lend a hand to Hugo’s CTPL Ambassador Program.

“I’m very passionate about sport and I love helping people, so when given the opportunity to lend a hand, I didn't think twice about it,” Purton said.
Playing both Premier Cricket and State League Football for North Hobart, Purton is passionate about introducing children to sport.
“Turning up every week and seeing the smiles on the kids faces makes it all worth it. It’s a great program.”
Focusing on introducing children to sport, Lend a hand to Hugo’s sporting programs are open to any child with a disability between the ages of 5-14.
“Similar to the cricket program, it provides kids of All Abilities to play sports. Skills like hand-eye coordination, running around and playing with different balls, it’s just a bit of fun," Purton said.
