Following the recent success of Lend a hand to Hugo’s All Abilities AFL Auskick program, the charity will again offer a Cricket Blast program for children between the ages of 5-14 with a disability or accessibility challenge.

The upcoming six-week cricket program will see children develop a number of skills with communication, forming relationships and gross motor skills at the top of the list.

Luke Williams, Founder of Lend a hand to Hugo said: “We had a 100% incline in participation numbers at our recent All Abilities AFL Auskick program, which shows that they are here to stay.”

“We’re really excited to get the cricket program underway, which will mark the second time we’ve offered a program for young cricketers with a disability. The cricket pathway for Australians with a disability is as strong as it has ever been, so it’s important to ensure that young Tasmanian’s with a disability are provided with an opportunity to try the game in an environment tailored to meet their needs.”

Williams also says that the charities’ team members have been working on making the program more ‘learning & play based’ with themes including hand eye-coordination, balance, numeracy and more to be rolled out across the six weeks.

Due to the ongoing generosity of the public, as well as the charities' sponsors, this program has been heavily subsidised and made cost friendly for all participants, which ensures the opportunity is available for a wider range of families with varying needs.

The program will commence on Monday 5th November, 3:45pm-4:45pm in New Town, and will run every Monday until Monday 10th December.
