Following our annual session with the North Hobart Junior Football Club under 12 side, Lend a hand to Hugo are proud to have received such positive feedback from the players and their parents. Two young men in particular not only recognised and acknowledged our inclusive and accepting messages, but have worked to further spread these messages. Eleven year old Harry Van Kraanen has been so inspired by Lend a hand to Hugo's work that he wanted to share it further. Following asking his teacher for permission, Harry prepared a five minute presentation with the key focus being on Lend a hand to Hugo and the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Harry's initiative to not only recognise the charities' key messages, but to educate his fellow students held Lend a hand to Hugo founder Luke Williams in shock.
"I was incredibly proud and overwhelmed following viewing the video of Harry's presentation. I was totally unaware of Harry's intentions in furthering the promotion of our work. Harry's initiative is the type of result we are searching for and his young age proves that future generations will be educated on the differences in society," said Luke Williams.
Fellow teammate Oliver Kelly and his fellow students were asked to 'dress like a champion' at Immaculate Heart Primary last week. Despite being a sports fanatic, and ignoring the number of celebrities to choose from, Oliver chose to dress like Lend a hand to Hugo founder Luke Williams. See Oliver pictured below with his cricket gear, and Lend a hand to Hugo merchandise - both of which are very dear to Luke. "It certainly brought a huge smile to my face and was a huge shock, however, I think the most important thing is that these young kids are recognising our messages, and taking the initiative to educate their friends," Luke said.
Well done Harry and Oliver, Lend a hand to Hugo are truly appreciative of your support.
