You may recognise her from her most recent role as Delvene on 'Hoges: The Paul Hogan Story' or for her talents as a television presenter and comedian. However, we recognise Nikki Osborne as the parent of a child on the autism spectrum. Nikki's experiences with her youngest son Teddy are full of adventure, positivity and life changing moments.
Nikki agrees that when Teddy was diagnosed, she fell into the trap of worrying about what Teddy couldn't do, rather than paying attention to the amazing qualities and talents he holds. Teddy's outlooks on situations are captivating, and proves that the world needs different types of minds to work together.
Whilst in Victoria, Lend a hand to Hugo were able to meet with Nikki and discuss ways that we can work together to further promote the key messages and values of the charity. Lend a hand to Hugo are proud to have Nikki as an ambassador, and to announce her new role - we caught up with her to speak about her experiences with Teddy, and as to why we need to be more open and accepting of people on the autism spectrum. Lend a hand to Hugo Founder Luke Williams said, 'It's important that people like Nikki support the cause because it demonstrates that autism and disability can hit any family, and whilst this isn't a negative thing, some can fall into the trap of thinking that it is.' 'Nikki has such a positive and fun outlook towards Teddy, which directly coincides with the key values of Lend a hand to Hugo,' said Luke.
